Re: Making an Anna dress for Halloween

There is an excellent and pretty simple Norwegian folk costume pattern out there -the skirt can be made in no time at all (but make a petticoat for under it -trust me!) http://www.hemslojd.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=SRCH" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; I'm working on this one, ...

Irene Adler gown -ish

After planning ideas for Boston Comic Con, it was forecasted to go into the 90's, so of course my idea of fun makeup cosplay was out, and I needed to throw something together quickly that was made of cotton and would breathe, so I decided to homage Irene Adler's pink gown (though dear gods, not in s...

I do! This is my tournure https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash2/t1.0-9/527707_10151403393693141_1733062742_n.jpg And it's under the red gown (regular four gore underskirt with about 12" added to the back length.) https://scontent-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash3/t1.0-9/1469938_101518424702381...

Wedding gown!

It's taken a long time, but it can finally be revealed! I made a wedding gown for a dear friend, who wanted the colors of garnet and grey/silver for her colors. 50 hours of beadwork on the embroidered overlay, and some amazing fun with the garnet taffeta undies, and she was a VERY happy bride! https...

Boning on the French Vest Bodice

Really dumb question: Do both seams of the side piece of the bodice get boned (side-front, and side-side back) or is one of them left unboned?

Thanks!!

Adjusting the Autumn Overskirt to fit the Imperial Tournure

Before I cut into my gorgeous remnant rack designer silk, I need to ask, what needs to be adjusted on the Autumn Overskirt so it fits well over the Imperial Tournure? Where should I add fabric? Or should I add fabric at all?

Thanks!

Re: 163 Tournure -difference in measurements?

I haven't worn it out yet, due to lack of skirt to wear over it! That's on my to-do list for this month, so I'll let you know when it's been out and about!

Re: Civil War Ballgown

Thank you! Mary, the stripes are actually a unidirectional plaid with polka dots in each square that was one of the hardest fabrics I've ever handled -it stretched in THREE directions, AND the skirt panels had to be hand drawn and cut out flat individually, as NONE of it would fold and retain the st...

Civil War Ballgown

As always, running late, so I didn't get to finish trimming it, but I love how it turned out (especially since I made the cage crinoline as well as the gown for the Fezziwig Ball) There are more bows and velvet swags for the skirts, which I'm sure I'll add onto it someday when I have the time! http:...

163 Tournure -difference in measurements?

Has anyone made both tournures? I'm trying to figure out what the sizing difference is between them (I'm visual, but I'd be happy with a "juts out" measurement too!)

TV 464 Riding Habit Bodice

Ok, I think I've been sewing this darn thing just too late in the evenings, because I think I'm missing something. I'm at the lining part, and used a contrast color for lining and interlining (hey, it was stash!) but currently, the interlining is showing on the lapels, with the fashion fabric facing...
