Re: Greetings from Vänersborg

Try korsetter(krumelur)pastisch(punkt)se. Unfortunately there's no one in Sweden with a full supply of corset stuff. I buy all my material at Vena Cava Design in England. Good supply of everything, fast delivery and good service. If you need some advice or missing material I may help. Besides the pe...

Re: Greetings from Vänersborg

Yepp and Nope. It's a small world when meeting people at the most peculiar places but it's a big world when travelling to and fro Chicago (where our daughter and granddaughter lives). First I have to explain that in the beginning of my corset as well as tube career, I as really active but to serious...

Re: Adding a layer lace outside a corset(?)

Short report: I followed the advices and got things more or less pretty fine, BUT ... ... I had cut off the nice wavy edge of the lace, leaving approx 2". I cut this down to just less then 1", layed out the lace strip along the upper edge with the underside of the lace along the very edge....

Adding a layer lace outside a corset(?)

I need some second opinions in this matter. I have sewn a few corset where, on top of the fashion fabric I have added a layer of lace but in those cases I have simply "sandwiched" fabric and lace and treated the pieces as one. The edges has been bound with bias tape (see pic below. But now...

Re: Dying polyester lace fabric

Thanks for the answer. The idea of using tea I have heard of before and made a simple test, but rinsing the lace, also rinse away the tea. Finding a cotton lace is out of the question as I am running out of time and I have a yard of lace coming in any day now. Well, I hope the slightly beige tone of...

Dying polyester lace fabric

Finally I have gotten some energy to start AND finish a corset project. I was asked to sew a wedding corset for a quartermaster (cox?) on a merchant ship and the idea was to use off-white duchesse covered with lace. However I haven't been able to find lace in "natural white", just white-wh...

Re: Odd Ball Question

I certainly get the point and I have to, when I read your answer, agree with you to 200%.
I have in some cases noticed that there seems to be a kind of "inflation" in sizes, where a (real) size 14 suddenly has become a (pattern) size 12 etc ...

Re: Odd Ball Question

Excuse me for hijacking the thread, but how come the sizes are from AA to M, and not in US/EU standard sizes?

Re: Lacing question

It could also help a little, especially if you have problems with "stuff" gathering on your back, inside the lacing, to add a modesty panel.
Else I guess it's an impossable task to lace a corset tighter in some places and looser in other, unless you split the cord.

I know that sometimes videos cannot be seen abroad.
I will try to find a way to show you this one as there are many scenes with our friends dressed in typical dresses.

Victorian times on Swedish TV

Maybe you can see this or maybe not. And if you can, well, no subtitles or dubbed version available but never the less .. There's a really great and funny show on Swedich national TV. Two people are eating and living their way through six different Swedish eras. Theu have survived the 17th century, ...

Re: Corset dress - how to?

I did tutor five ladies how to sew Victorian Corsets last weekend on, what is supposed to be, Scandinavia's biggest Inspiration- and Sewing Fair and as we were housed in a High School, we also had the teachers from the various handicraft programs coming over to check our progress and someone showed ...

Re: corset newbie TV110

BUT, if wearing the corset without a chemis, it should be possible to lengten the corset (add some extra Angstroms) above the bust, and it that case preferrable "nip in" the seam on top, as well as modelling the corsets as required? Many of my students want to wear the corsets on their bar...

Re: Sewing in leather

I consider having separate boning channels sewn to the lining, but nothing decided yet.
Maybe my machine, a Janome Quilt Companion, manage to sew through a layer of leather and the lining.

Re: Sewing in leather

I know I have to use paperclips instead of needles. I have a special foot with "wheels" or rolls. I will also use the firmest and sturdiest ... gosh, that absinth I just had whiped my brain clean ... "inner layer of fabric" I can find as leather may stretch. Lining! I may start w...
