Re: Next dress!

Ooo, I've loved that dress for ages; nice to see someone making a version of it! I also like the cottons - I prefer the green, but I love just about anything green, so I wouldn't take my word for it if I was you ;)

Re: Making my very first dress, do I have all the right pieces?

If you've got the fabric for your undies, you can also get started on making those while you decide on the fabrics for your outerwear. Re: Parasol skeleton

I really wish they gave prices for international shipping - every time I read 'Contact us for international shipping rates' I can w pretty sure the response will either be 'no', or unfeasibly expensive. I can't really complain if its not something that works for their business, but I'm still selfish...

Re: Can I get away with this? - 428 Bodice

Is it worth just closing the front with hooks and eyes instead, and having decorative buttons? That way you mightn't have to add anything more!

Is it worth making membership require mod approval for a bit, at least until it settles down? Maybe one or two of us could be made mods to save Heather having to moderate the whole board?

Damn, why are they only ever USA only, or with incredibly high shipping costs? I think I need to find some good pictures then ask my partner very nicely to try and make something similar...

Omg, Erin, that's brilliant. I'm just about to get to the facing stage for my two-toned bodice, and your serger tips will be saving me a whole bunch of messing around.

Thank you!

I've wanted to make myself one for a while now, but it keeps getting pushed back in the projects list in favour of things with patterns - stupid being a new sewer and all that!

Re: question on polonaise sleeves

If you're worrying about heat, you could also think about making a chemisette to go underneath the polonaise instead of a chemise - saves an extra layer, at least. And the linen sounds lovely - what fun to sew it! http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/15/Chemisettes_godeys_Apr1850.jp...
