TV108 Sizing

Postby hailstop » Sun Aug 19, 2018 3:52 pm

Now that I'm done the Elsa 1860s gown (pics hopefully this weekend, if the smoke goes away), I'm looking at starting a bustle gown.

I'll be making a Grand Bustle using the TV108 pattern, but while my hips are 40-50 inches, my waist is 46 inches, so I'm not sure if the 2XL size will work, given that even the L has a waist measurement of 42 inches.

Or can I just extrapolate from the measurements on the pattern to effectively get a "3XL"?

There is a bit of room in the front panels to allow for more waist room. I'd have to measure to see how much exactly, but I expect there is about 6" or more. If you need more, then I would add to the front/side panels only, and keep the back bustle part the same.

I think six inches should be plenty, enough to give it a shot anyway.

Something I just realized. The instructions say that you adjust the length where marked on the pattern, but I don't see anywhere on the pattern that I would lengthen?

Oops, sorry about that. I 'll have to take a look.

You want to lengthen/shorten in the gap between the bustle wires at the top and the bottom hoops.
