TV201 - connecting the dots

Postby Danae » Fri Nov 30, 2018 8:55 am

My apologies for another TV201 questions, but I'm struggling a bit with this one.

First off, I LOVE these patterns, but as a non-native speaker I sometimes struggle a bit with the instructions. So my apologies if this is really a simple thing, but: I've laid out the pieces of the TV201 and am wondering if this is the right way. I have folded the patterns shorter (to allow for the pleats on the hem), but the back panel and the side back don't seem to match in length. (Same for the rest of the panels, though the difference is not as much as in the back).

Moreover, I always try to connect the little dotted lines (the two/three lines on the side of the pattern), but on this one, that only works if I turn the side back upside down. Is that how it should be? Or is it right the way it is pictured on the photo?

Thank you so very much for your time and patience!

I cannot see the marks clearly, but it looks like your side back piece turned so that the wrong side is to the back. There should be the same number of those triangle shapes touching.
Attached two pictures for reference.

You are correct about needing to turn the side back piece upside down. Since you will be cutting two pieces, then you can attach one on each side of the back piece. I hope that helps.

Sorry for coming late to the post. Yes, technically, the side back piece would be turned face down to match. But as you cut one facing each way anway, then you just grab the once that you need for each size. With most Victorian era skirt, you have a diagonal edge to the back matching a straight edge to the front of the next panel.

Thank you so much for your replies! I think the upside down part (and the fact that for the shorter view, all my pieces seemed to have a different length at the bottom) got me confused and I didn't dare to proceed from there. But it fits great the way you all described it, so thank you very much!
